Position Code #: MGT1
QLF NON-PROFIT MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT

Location: Ipswich, Massachusetts

Summer 2008

QLF is seeking a highly qualified individual to work from our Ipswich office on a number of NGO management functions. The intern would assist QLFÕs President and Executive Vice President with the many and varied tasks associated with managing a medium-sized NGO with diverse programmatic activities and a regional and international reach. This position requires a great deal of flexibility, as the intern would to be required to respond to needs as they arise during QLFÕs busy summer period.

Responsibilities would likely include supporting work related to running intern orientations, monitoring QLF summer programming in the field through close correspondence with QLF staff and site visits, writing press releases about QLF activities, organizing Sounds Conservancy grantee meetings, supporting our international exchange visitors while they are in New England, gathering information and evaluation material, articles, photographs, and stories from summer staff for later publications.

This is a fascinating opportunity for a highly-motivated intern interested in the inner workings of an international environmental conservation organization. The intern would have the unique opportunity to learn about the many responsibilities associated with non-profit management and conservation programming and would develop a range of relevant skills, including planning and logistics, interpersonal skills associated with supporting staff and interns, and tools for remaining focused and professional under pressure. The internship offers an intensive and well-rounded experience that can serve as a strong foundation for further work in conservation or in management. The position is designed to provide a meaningful training experience for someone interested in pursuing a career in these fields.
