Timeless Traditions

Youth Heritage Contest

People should do more things together as a group and will keep our heritage alive.  The part of our heritage that is being lost is the fact that too many things are being taken for granted and given without thinking. People don’t understand value anymore.  Our grandparents worked hard for what they had.  We are given the same things for free…

Youth Heritage Contest

To bring all aspects of the project together, and to encourage youth involvement in preserving heritage, a contest was held at three schools. After interviewing a senior member in their family or community, students submitted essays and/or hand drawn
artwork interpreting how they view their heritage and how best to preserve it. More than fifty submissions were made, highlighting local heritage through the eyes of our youth.  All entries were displayed during the Old Fashioned “Time”, and prizes were awarded to three students in each of three age categories.
